BAYANIng FILIPINO: Ang Bagong Henerasyon

“When one hears the Filipino word “bayani”, the first people that come to the minds are Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, Heneral Luna or those who died a martyr or revolutionary to protect a nation from the history books.  For some, it is our parents who sacrifice everything to give us what we need.

The word “bayani” according to a well-known historian Dr. Zeus Salazar, it came from the Bisaya word “bagani” meaning a warrior and “wani” which means sacrifice or concern for others. In English, “hero”, is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

The title “BAYANIing Pilipino: Ang Bagong Henerasyon” is a word play for “Bayaning Pilipino” and “Bayani ng Pilipino”. The first phrase meaning “Filipino heroes” and the latter “heroes for fellowmen Filipinos”. The coffee table book aims to celebrate of these mortals who have done immortal contributions for the country.

7 ordinary lives. 7 extraordinary deeds.
